Steel1 is the leading contract manufacturer of Ready to Assemble parts and attachments and is a strategic supplier to Caterpillar, Doosan, Terex, & Bombardier among others. Steel1 services Infrastructure, Railways and Yellow Goods segments.
Steel1 is a JV between Arcelormittal (#1 Steel manufacturer in the world), and Moondhra family (In steel since 1885). Steel1 follows highest standards of governance in line with global best practices.
Steel1 was founded as ArcelorMittal Dhamm Processing in 2008, to meet the needs for steel processing for leading Global and Indian manufacturers in India. Since then we have consistently expanded our capabilities and capacities to meet the evolving demands from our customers.

Safety Bradley Curve
Our manufacturing processes are largely manual and labor intensive. We are also manufacturing heavy weight parts, frequently weighing > 1MT.
With this in mind, the leadership of the company decided in 2012 to adopt the Bradley Curve (of Dupont fame) as the safety platform for the company.
It is an ongoing process of improvement, with frequent audits, training and reviews.
Safety Performance is a key performance indicator for all members of the Steel1 team
Journey to Zero Defect - Built in Quality
In 2018, we have launched an initiative to bring zero defect to our customers. This initiative was in line with the increased expectation from our customers.
In the first phase, we have deployed the tool for product Quality on our supplies to Mining Trucks. From an average monthly defect count of 25 numbers, we have reached less than 1 defect per month average in 2021.
We are further horizontally deploying this to other areas of production.
Just In Time - Direct2Line Supplies
The ability to supply parts Direct2Line stems from the progress made with Journey to Zero Defect.
This has invvoled deep dive with our customers to understand the correct configuration of pallets, and batch size of parts to allow one day inventory for production directly on the customer shop floor.
We now ship more than 600 parts in different pallets successfully to customers daily. It has brought tremendous discipline in Steel1, and reduction of inventory and storage space for our customers
Environment & Sustainability
The Steel1 Mission Statement clearly lays down the commitment to create prosperity for the community with in which we operate.
Renewable Energy
Since 2012, 80% of our electricity requirement is met through wind power.
In 2021, we have deployed IOT sensors to further improve efficiency and reduce power usage.
Trainee & Apprenticeship Programs
Since 2009, we have been selecting graduates of ITI's from districts in India which have had low development indicators
At the end of 2021, we had 394 graduates from our training program. The program is now registered with National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme as part of Govt of India, Skill Initiative.
Tree Plantation
We have planted more than 24,000 trees in the SIPCOT Industrial Estate that we are part of.
We continue to support drive to bring back naturally found trees in this region of Tamil Nadu.
